What Makes Us Different

Unlike other schools, mindwerx4kids provides an enriched age-appropriate program with an individualized learning approach. Assessments occur on a regular basis to better understand the student's learning style, talents and current skills, as well as formulate a program plan geared to optimize interest and involvement. Generally this includes an annual psychoeducational assessment and academic evaluations throughout the year. We try to make these fun for the kids. Interviews and written reports are routinely provided.

Classes are small, with a maximum of eight students per teacher at all levels. Students also have access to computers and interactive white board technology. Our Day School is fortunate to have on-site use of both a gymnasium and auditorium, so that physical education and drama are an ongoing part of the school day.

Our Programs and curriculum are recognized by the Ontario Ministry of Education and include:

- Language Arts
- Mathematics and Geometry
- French (AIM Program)
- Science and Technology
- Social Studies (History and Geography)
- Music and Drama
- Visual Arts and Dance
- Library Studies
- Physical Education (Sports, Health, Yoga)
- Weekly Assembly and frequent field trips

Through all our various programs programs, we consider and support students who are developing well, those that are gifted, and students with mild special needs.

For most parents, our annual psychoeducational assessments provide a welcome confirmation that their child is on track and scaffolding for the next developmental steps can be planned. If a concern is identified, further assessment and referral can be provided. Our multi-disciplinary team includes psychology, psychiatry, speech/language specialists, occupational and behaviour therapists as well as Ontario certified teachers who can often offer professional services on-site.

A specialized approach affords children with a particular gift or interest, or those who may require extra support in a specific area an opportunity to be included in a Special Focus Program. These individual and small group experiences provide additional activities in specific areas.

We consider the care of children who come to mindwerx4kids to be a privilege and a responsibility that can only be undertaken in ongoing partnership with families.
